British Columbia

Buying property in British Columbia is a good investment

British Columbia is a province of Canada, located on the west coast. It shares two borders with United States and is bordered by Alberta, the Yukon and the Northwest territories. The motto of British Columbia is ‘Splendor Sine Occasu’ which means ‘radiance without decline’. The most widely spoken language in British Columbia is English, although it is not legally an official language. The provincial capital is Victoria, but the most populous city is Vancouver. British Columbia is divided into three main regions:

  • The Lower Mainland located in the southwest of the province around the city of Vancouver and the Fraser River delta.
  • The Coast formed by the coastal strip north of the Lower Mainland between the coast and the coast range and the islands.
  • The Interior of the province east of the coast range.

British Columbia is mainly dominated by mountain ranges like the Canadian Rockies or the Columbia range. These mountains are covered by vast forests.

A province where it is pleasant to move in

The regions that are located in the North have cold and snowy winters. The area south of Vancouver Island has a temperate climate moderated by the Kuroshio Current from the Pacific Ocean. Inland, summer temperatures can be quite hot.

The province is renowned for its mountainous landscapes and spectacular fjords, which are a growing industry for outdoor activities and ecotourism. British Columbia offers one of the world’s largest off-piste areas in the winter and many kilometres of ATV trails in the summer.

British Columbia is home to seven of the forty-two national parks in Canada such as the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve or the Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and the Haida Heritage Site.

It is also home to places of memory such as the Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site or the Gulf of Georgia Cannery National Historic Site.

British Columbia’s economic development attracts more and more new buyers

British Columbia’s economy is linked to natural resources such as logging, mineral extraction and fishing. The province has however diversified a lot due to its privileged geographic location. The economy is mainly linked to tertiary activities. Art production is also widespread in British Columbia. There are countless cinematographic works shot in this region. You just have to check a mention or the logo of British Columbia to realize it.
